Criminal Investigation Division
The purpose of the Criminal Investigation Division is to investigate major crimes against persons and property.Detectives are selected from the patrol ranks of the Murray City Police Department. A minimum of two years experience is required to fill the position. Detectives are chosen through an application process. Detectives are appointed for a five year period. The Detective Division investigates all Class A Misdemeanor and Felony crimes. There are specialty assignments within the division; however, all detectives have been cross-trained to investigate multiple types of crimes. The following is a breakdown of detective assignments, along with a telephone number where they can be reached. In the case of a Homicide, several Crimes against Person's detectives may be assigned to the case.
