Mayor's Biography

                                              Mayor David Ted Eyre

Mayor D. Ted Eyre was sworn in as our Mayor on January 7, 2014. He is proud to be part of four family generations who have live in Murray City. He was born and raised in Wyoming and graduated from Cheyenne East High School. He attended Brigham Young University and a college in California, where he received his degree in Aviation Sciences. Since the earliest recollection of his youth, all he ever wanted to do was fly airplanes. Not having the financial resources to do that, he enlisted in the United States Army and following his training, he served a tour in Vietnam flying a U21A which was attached to the aviation division of the signal corp. After returning home, he worked in construction in Colorado to save money and relocate to California in order to convert his military flight time to civilian certificate. While working as a flight instructor in the Bay Area, he met the love of his life - Ruth Peters, and they were married. Subsequently, he was hired by Western Airlines which was acquired by Delta Airlines in 1986. They relocated to Murray the year following that merger and have lived in Murray City ever since. He retired as a Captain for Delta Airlines in 2005.

Ted and Ruth are proud parents of four children and happy grandparents of four. Throughout the past 27 years, they have been involved in many organizations to enhance the betterment of Murray City, both in the schools and in the community. Ted was one of the founding board members of the Murray Greenhouse Foundation and served for eight years on the Murray Parks and Recreation Board. Ruth has been involved in the PTA and started the Murray Special Spartans--a Special Olympics team.

Mayor Eyre is excited to continue serving Murray City in his new capacity and is proud to join with the Murray City employees, the business community and the residents in making "Murray a City Without Equal."
