Winners of the Murray Halloween Literary Competition will be sharing their Halloween-themed poems and short stories at the Haunted Tales Showcase, October 26th. 

2021 Halloween Literary Competition

Students grades 3-12 attending Murray Schools or residing within Murray City, are invited to submit Halloween-themed poems and short stories.

  • All entries must be received in the Murray Parks Office by Monday, October 18 before 5 pm.
  • Entries may be dropped off or mailed to Murray Arts, 296 East Murray Park Avenue, Murray, Utah 84107
  • OR entries can be emailed to klindquist@murray.utah.gov
  • Entries must include the student's name, grade, school, and home phone number. 
  • Entries must be typed or legibly written on an 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper. Length limited to 2-5 typewritten pages or 6-10 handwritten pages (depending on size of print). It should not take more than 4 minutes to read.
  • Judging will be based on creativity and grade level writing schools, for introduction, continuity, descriptive language, and conclusion. 
    • Bonus points will be given for presentation such as title, grammar, and neatness.
    • First Place Winners will receive a gift card and certificates for top ten winners.
