The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and Murray City are working together to make safety improvements and improve traffic flow at the intersection of 5300 South and College Drive. This work will include widening both 5300 South and College Drive, adding an additional left-turn lane and a right-turn-only lane on 5300 South and an additional left-turn lane on College Drive. The project will also include new sidewalks in some areas as well as updated signals for the intersection.
Project Activities:
- Work will begin Monday, May 15th, with work along the north side of 5300 South. Work will take place M-F from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Area residents can expect an increase in noise, lights, vibrations, and work trucks in the area during this work.
- Impacts will include lane closures, traffic shifts, access limitations as well as a planned 35-day closure of the north side of 5300 South at College Drive in late May. During this closure, drivers will be detoured to 700 West/Murray Boulevard and then College Drive/480 West. Business access on College Drive will always be maintained.
