Murray City Fire Department is a member of the Metro Fire Testing Consortium (MFTC). The MFTC was established in 2014 to establish hiring rosters of qualified applicants. The MFTC is composed of the following departments; Bluffdale City Fire Department, Draper City Fire Department, Sandy City Fire Department, South Jordan Fire Department, Sandy City Fire Department, West Jordan City Fire Department, and West Valley City Fire Department. The test for 2017 will be held on Sat July 29, 2017 at Murray High School (5440 S. State Street)

To apply to become a firefighter in Murray City, you must:

  • Register with MFTC
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Hold a current Emergency Medical Technical (EMT) certification for the state of Utah or be enrolled in an EMT class.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license

Hiring Roster

To be placed on the hiring roster, you must pass a Firefighter exam and a physical agility test. Usually the top 50 to 60 scores from the written test are invited to participate in the physical agility portion. The physical agility test is a pass/fail. The candidates who pass the physical agility test are placed on a hiring roster based on their test scores. These tests are generally given annually.
