Cotton Tales Contest

Each spring we announce a new theme for Cotton Tales, our annual Spring writing competition, for youth K- 12 grades to enter for a chance to win prizes and present at the Cotton Tales Showcase. 

Cotton Tales 2025 Theme: The Magic of Metamorphosis 

Write about transformations big or small - like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, a character growing into someone new, or anything about the magic and wonder of change!

Categories: Poetry, Short Stories/ Picture Book (under 500 words), and Long Stories (500-2000 words)

You can submit your entry by filling out this FORM or emailing your entry to rcoates@murray.utah.gov. Please include the school you attend and your grade. 

Entries due: Friday, April 25

Writer Showcase: May 23 at 6pm, located at the Murray Museum
